Learn about what a landing page is in this article.

A landing page is a webpage that serves as the entry point for a website or a specific section of it. Users can land on it when they click through an email, ad, or search engine result link. Landing pages often have a simple design and a CTA, such as "Learn more", "Buy now", or "Click here". Examples of landing pages include ebooks, email newsletter subscriptions, online course enrolment, free trials, and app downloads.

Landing pages commonly include analytics code for tracking and marketing purposes. The analytics may include unique visitors, the referral URL, platform, and link clicks. This data can be used to improve website traffic, perform business and market research, and personalise the website to users who frequently visit it.

Types Of Landing Pages

There are two main types of landing pages. These include:

  • References - Presents information that is relevant to the visitor. These can display text and images of relevant links or other elements. The goal is to minimise distractions and surround visitors with all available information about the targeted product to convince them to take action.
  • Transactional - Persuades a visitor to take action by completing a transaction. This is done by providing a form that needs to be filled out. Based on responses to transactional landing pages, an email campaign can be developed.

Benefits Of Landing Pages

The benefits of landing pages are:

  • Increased conversion rates - Landing pages can persuade users to perform the desired action on a website, like signing up for a newsletter, increasing conversion rates.
  • They can provide additional insights into the audience - This data can be tracked using web analytics, which can provide insights into the audience's interests.
  • They can help make a good first impression - A well-designed landing page can make a good first impression by impressing and turning visitors into leads by showing the services that are offered.
